March 2016 has been the busiest month on record for the Dubbo City Regional Airport.

During March 2016 the number of passengers on regular flights to and from Dubbo totalled 18,107 surpassing the previous record month set in September 2015.Mayor of Dubbo Councillor Mathew Dickerson said passenger numbers continue to grow which demonstrates the Dubbo community is supporting the airlines operating from Dubbo.

Dubbo City Regional Airport
has had eight record months in a row since August 2015,” Councillor Dickerson said. “The year to date passenger numbers are also sitting 6.55 per cent higher than the same period for 2014/2015,” Cr Dickerson “One of the reasons why Dubbo has been successful in attracting additional air services including direct flights to Brisbane and Melbourne and the return of services from Dubbo to Cobar was the preparedness of the community to support their airlines. “It is pleasing that the Dubbo community are continuing to back the airlines and the passenger numbers confirm the strategic importance of the Dubbo."Dubbo City Regional Airport Operations Manager Lindsay Mason said ongoing improvements to the airport will also benefit passengers.

“Council has supported plans to construct a separate hire car parking area and 50 additional secure car parking spaces in 2016/2017.  Other improvements in the car park such as perimeter fencing and better lighting will also be made,” Mr Mason said.
“Alongside this is the runway strengthening project which will ensure the airport has the capacity to meet future demands of larger heavier aircraft. “These significant projects ultimately mean passengers are able to get to and from their destinations easily and safely.” MEDIA CONTACT Mayor of Dubbo Councillor Mathew Dickerson 0418 639 053
