Monday, May 09, 2016

Mayor of Dubbo Councillor Mathew Dickerson said the news that FlyPelican will commence direct air services to between Dubbo and Newcastle is further proof that Dubbo is capitalising on its strategic location and investment in the Dubbo City Regional Airport.

FlyPelican today announced today that flights between Newcastle Airport and Dubbo will commence on Monday 18 July 2016 (subject to regulatory approval).

“The Dubbo community continues to support the growth of air services to and from Dubbo with monthly records of passenger numbers regularly being broken and consistent year on year increases,” Councillor Dickerson said.

“Passenger numbers for April have set another monthly record (the ninth in a row) and the growth from 2014/2015 is currently at 7.18 per cent.

“With the addition of FlyPelican services Dubbo will have four commercial operators flying direct to six destinations.

“Opening up Dubbo to Newcastle also gives travellers many opportunities to connect to other destinations like Ballina (Byron Bay) and interstate destinations.

“With already strong business connections between Newcastle and for local families with children attending the University of Newcastle or with other family and friends in the Newcastle, Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie this services makes Dubbo all the more accessible than travelling by road.

“This is more fantastic news for Dubbo and is cementing the City’s importance as a critical regional centre for NSW.”

Dubbo to Newcastle flights are being initially scheduled from Monday to Friday.
