Plans for pay for use parking on exhibition

Thursday, December 03, 2015

Dubbo City Regional Airport Plans for Pay for use Parking will be on public exhibition from tomorrow, 3 December, 2015, until 29 January, 2016.

“It was decided at the November meeting of Council to place the Dubbo City Regional Airport Plans for Pay for Use Parking on public exhibition, giving the community an opportunity to provide feedback on the plan,” Mayor of Dubbo Councillor Mathew Dickerson said.

“The proposal is to implement a fee of $4.70 per day for use of the public car park facility for parking in excess of 4 hours, which means that short term parking is provided for free,” he said.

The plan also recommends extending the secure car parking area by an additional 50 spaces while maintaining the existing charge of $9.50 a day and provides for the construction of a designated car park for rental vehicles.

“The plan has come about due to Council recognising the need to secure additional income streams for the Dubbo City Regional Airport, which is regarded as a first grade facility across the region,” he said.

“As demand and use of the airport increases over time, reliance on landing fees alone will become unsustainable and Council needs to cater for the development and help ensure the expansion of the Dubbo City Regional Airport keeps pace with community needs,” Clr Dickerson said.

After the consultation period is over a further report will be put to Council.

You can view the plans at Customer Service during business hours, Monday to Friday at Council’s Civic Administration Building or visit www.mydubbomysay.com
